  1. The folks at Ruger and Vista Outdoors are probably losing sleep because Blackrock Investments is considering offering gun free investment choices for their clients. Blackrock owns a lot of Ruger (14%) and Vista stock.

    1. Oho. Herself is in charge of our portfolio, such as it is, and I have no idea what’s in there. Could be nerve gas, Kryptonite and Weyland-Yutani-Xenomorph Corp., LLC.

Of course, since Herself works as a librarian at the Death Star, pitching a bitch over who supplies our sporting goods and whether we profit from the sale of same seems a bit … well, unseemly.

  2. Well, O’G, since I put kibble in the dog dish courtesy of weapons of mass destruction, it does seem a little awkward for me to bitch too much about a mere pocket pistol. But speaking of guns and all that shit. You can listen to me babble on the radio this morning.

Meanwhile, I got this email yesterday from an evil empire colleague who rides in the City Indifferent. Maybe I’ll start carrying my double stack 9mm once we are living in that land of milk, honey, and gentle political progressives. Although it does weigh damn near as much as the frame on the Six Thirteen:

The following was reported in the Facebook group Santa Fe Road Riders on Thursday, March 1st, by Bob Bogart, a member of the local club Seniors On Bikes (SOBs).

“The SOB’s were riding toward Galisteo on [NM-41], about 15 of us, around noon. We were buzzed at high speed by a small white Honda. (no one in oncoming traffic BTW) After he passed he stopped and backed up into the peloton hitting one rider and causing 2 others to go down hard. Then he drove away. We got the license number and he was apprehended by SF County Deputies. The injured rider is in intensive care at Christus. Keep alert in Galisteo area. Stay Safe.”

Later among the discussions in the group it was mentioned that both the Santa Fe New Mexican and Albuquerque Journals were given information to report on this yet I have not seen anything in the New Mexican as of this morning. I do not have a Journal subscription to check if it appeared there.

Nor do I know who was injured, nor who was arrested. I would like to follow this case to ensure that the County is going to prosecute the driver to the fullest extend possible.

Does anyone have more information about this or does anyone know how to look up arrest reports for Santa Fe County? Looking at the “Hotsheets” published online, there is no record of any such arrest.

    1. That’s fucked up, as we say in the news biz.

Looks like The Associated Press has the story, lifted from the Journal.

Interesting that there is no record of a case online. David, the SOBs and the rider’s family should have a chat with the authorities. Something is amiss.

I still don’t find a story in The New Mexican. Justin Norwath (986-3017) is listed as their crime reporter. I’d ring him up, too. And if I didn’t like what I heard from him, I’d move up the newsroom ladder to one of the assistant city editors.

I wouldn’t expect much in the way of cooperation today, what with the election going on. Those tend to be all-hands-on-deck affairs. And don’t pick any fights with Milan Simonich. You’ll lose.

      1. Seems like someone in the group needed a Headbanger Tactical helmet, eh you hoser?
Seems to me that some kind of assault would have been the correct charge here. Plus this driver is stupid enough to go up against a group of witnesses. I guess a judge will have to figure it out.

    2. Nice interview Khal. I too quit the NRA around 1986 when it became obvious they were no longer a shooting and hunting organization but a political one. And, one that was the worst of the single issue propaganda mills.

      1. NRA should be changed to FIL (Firearms Industry Lobby) so it can be lumped in with the military-industrial complex where it belongs. Sadly, not many tax-payers seem to have a beef with the insane amount of our wealth we hand over to the Pentagon each year. Every time a politician tells me “we don’t have the money for that” my reply is “Hell yes we do – just take it out of the Pentagon budget!”

  3. One of my last correspondences with my mother was concerning my late father’s Ruger 357 Black hawk, she wanted to send it down to NZ & I suggested that it would be better to sell it in SA & keep the money.
Went to a BBQ recently & the SA Border war came up, ( Aug 66 to 1989), People were amazed to hear that I’d fired automatic weapons in anger & even more amazed to hear that I did not want to ever touch one of them again.
