We vote. But not by mail, not in the strictest definition.
Yes, we receive our ballots via the U.S. Postal Service, but only so we can fill them out at the kitchen table, where last-minute research is easier and the lines shorter.
And then we march them over to the local polling place, an easy milelong stroll along the Tramway bike path. We exchange pleasantries with the nice folks doing the People’s Business, thank them for their service, and feed our sealed ballots into the box.
Then we stroll back to El Rancho Pendejo, secure in the knowledge that we have performed one of the most basic — and most important — duties of a citizen. Tossing rascals out and planting a fresh crop.
But you may vote by mail, for one reason or another, and that’s why you might want to check the shed for pitchforks and torches. Because the federal government — executive, legislative and judicial — seems to think that if they keep putting more roadblocks in our path, a critical number of us might not bother to vote at all.

Curious as to what the Supremes will do with this one. Was listening to NPR on the way back from practicing my marksmanship skills (weak as they are) and it sounded like SCOTUS suspended the lower court ruling on a technicality, not on the merits. But who knows? And if dipshit makes a hash of the USPS, I could see states sending out mail in ballots by Little Brown Truck. After all, the Constitution gives voting rules to the states, or to Congress. Not the Supreme Asshat.
Our polling place is about 300 yards from the house, so we generally saunter down and do it the old fashioned way. Well, not too old fashioned. I don’t see those mechanical voting machines I recall from my misspent youth.
Still, we might need something a little stronger than torches and pitchforks the way things are going.
Will it happen? Will the states turn over vote by mail registration rolls to the USPS? Does the USPS have the data systems and employees to make a match before sending the ballot? The answer to all these questions is no. Is there another lower court order forbidding USPS from implementing the exec order? Yes. Is Roberts a kowtowing asshole? Yes. Does he have 5 other kowtowing assholes on the bench with his sorry ass? Yes.
Does anyone have a pony tail holder I can borrow?
I might have to learn that song. I’m letting my freak flag fly. And, when people ask me why, I tell them. No one has gotten upset yet. If they do, I’ll say why did you ask if you didn’t want an answer?

New Mexico is slower than most but it gets here eventually, Motor vehicle
department and Bernallio county eventually get the registration right . will check again in September. I think there are a lot of good ideas and concepts in New Mexico but the implementation is not so good or sucks entirely. But I vote just to piss of the idiots. I had a election worker in MT look at my name three times and tell me I was not on then list. Supervisor showed up and we had a short conversation about the ladys’ literacy level. I voted.
