“Probable cause? We ain’t got no probable cause. We don’t need no probable cause. I don’t have to show you any steenkeeng probable cause!”
Zachary McCoy was Just Riding Along™, not unlike thee and me, when the John Laws came calling for his Google user data. According to The Guardian:
McCoy later found out the request was part of an investigation into the burglary of a nearby home the year before. The evidence that cast him as a suspect was his location during his bike ride – information the police obtained from Google through what is called a geofence warrant. For simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time, McCoy was being investigated and, as a result, his Google data was at risk of being handed over to the police.
No thank you, please, and fuck right off with that noise, Officer Friendly. How’s the song go? “Let me ride through the wide open country that I love / Don’t geofence me in.”

No social media, no Google, no Chrome, no cell phones, no GPS location service turned on, pi hole ad blocker on router, and I clear web data and history on Safari at least once a day. What’s next? Clay tablets and a wood stylus perhaps?

Police and LEO’s are using technology to shortcut real police work. But contrary to popular belief a million cops at a million keyboards will not produce Shakespeare or profound results of Sherlock Holmes.

A million cops at at million keyboards will produce:
1. Multi-million hits on porn sites.
2. Multi-million hits on right wing media sites.

Kinda crazy. Its a pure fishing expedition and should get thrown out on 4A grounds. Imagine an inner city kid riding a bicycle in a high crime area. He’s gonna be investigated twice a day because its easier than doing real police work.

Hmm? I wonder if my name pops up on bad guy watch lists because I ride by one of Goggle’s super-server farms. Especially on my zero dark thirty full moon rides. I like to think the rent-uh-cops get a little bit jumpy when I roll by in the dark. But likely not. They probably already know. “That’s just Shawn going by. We know all about him. Everything. Tomorrow night he’s going to have a flat tire right in front of our northeast gate. It will be the front tire.”
